COUNCIL ON AGING
Board Meeting~of 18 February~2009
The meeting was called to order at 10:05 a.m. and adjourned at 10:49 a.m.

Minutes of 21 January 2009~were accepted.
P. Reid read two poems, on by~Mary Oliver and one by John Updike
Executive Directors Report: Attached and accepted. Highlights include:
Dave Fenton of the Hampshire Sheriff’s Office brought s emergency blankets which were distributed to seniors.
AARP volunteer Kate Davidheiser will be doing taxes on Thursdays
Training of staff and others in the Heimlich maneuver was suggested. The Highland Ambulance corps might be a source of~instructors.
Fran Goebel and Rose Simmons are both recuperating and Fran hopes to be back early in March.
Emergency procedures and a messaging system have been discussed with John Cotton and Steve Herzberg.
Program Report: In F.Goebel’s absence M. Wheelan provided an update.
Financial: accepted.
Announcements:
The Nash Hill Elevator Committee A petition in support collected signatures which were presented to Jacquelyn Burgin at HCDC. She has talked with USDA, which holds the mortgage and they have written a letter of support for the grant application. A firm of architects in Shelburne has developed suitable plans which will make the second floor more accessible
Life Goes On, an HVES meeting for seniors will be 0n 2 March 2009.
