The Williamsburg (MA) Board of Library Trustees seeks a dynamic, patron-focused, detail-oriented individual for the position of Director of the Williamsburg Libraries. The Director is responsible for all aspects of the professional management and operation of the two town libraries (Meekins and Haydenville), including supervising library staff and volunteers, representing and advocating for the libraries in the community, collaborating with the town elementary school to plan and implement the school library program, and working with the Trustees to develop long-term funding sources and strategies.
Williamsburg is a town of 2,500 located in the foothills of the Berkshires. An active ALA 4-Star Library, the Meekins Library and its Haydenville branch welcomed 49,500 visitors, circulated 98,151 items, and sponsored over 240 programs in 2013. The Meekins Library also serves as the school library for the Williamsburg Elementary School.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of four years of library experience, with demonstrated leadership qualities and evidence of increasing supervisory responsibilities over time; experience interacting with a broad range of constituents and working collaboratively with town government; and strong budgeting, interpersonal, and communication skills. BA/BS required, MLS degree desirable. The position is full-time (37.5 hrs/week), with a salary range of $40,000 - $45,000, depending on qualifications.
